Kristen Wiig returned to Saturday Night Live last night for the first time after leaving the cast last year. This time, the former cast member came on to host along with musical guest Vampire Weekend, and she brought back plenty of her old characters. We got to see "Target Lady," "the Californians," and even a tease of "Gilly!" Wiig also brought friend and former cast member Maya Rudolph for some jokes as well as Jonah Hill. Vampire Weekend performed two new songs off of their album Modern Vampires in the City and Wiig had us all laughing. What did you think?

As usual, we got to see a political "Cold Open," which was just kind of strange this week. It was shorter than usual and had only one joke. This is a rare occurrence but it left room for more sketches throughout the night.

Wiig's opening monologue was short as well and involved a musical number. The concept was funny, but SNL really needs to move away from hosts singing in the monologues. Here is the video clip of Kristen Wiig's opening monologue:

After a pre-recorded sketch for "1-800-Flowers" and Mother's Day, we got to see the return of "The Californians." Though these sketches are pretty hit-or-miss, it was nice to see (and hear) the return of Wiig's Californian housewife impression. The cast members rarely get through these sketches without breaking character a bit, so that was fun to see again. Check it out right here:

The episode had its ups and downs, but it definitely had the audience laughing. Here are a few other standout sketches:

And here are the video clips for Vampire Weekend performing "Diane Young" and "Unbelievers." Enjoy:
