‘Survivor’ Castaway Jeff Varner Loses Job After Outing Zeke Smith Who Struggles to Forgive Him
“Survivor” contestant Jeff Varner is finding out the repercussions for outing fellow contestant and tribemate Zeke Smith as a transgender past week. The day after the episode aired, he was fired from his job as a North Carolina real estate agent. His former employer, Allen Tate Realtors, said that the 50-year-old Varner is right in the middle of a news story they didn’t want to get involved in.
Jeff Varner, who tried to paint Zeke Smith as deceitful in order to save himself from being voted off the competition claims that he was completely blindsided by his firing. He was in the middle of doing press for “Survivor” when he discovered that he can no longer access his work email reports E! News. He then got an email from the MLS association emails informing him he has been terminated.
The three-time “Survivor” contestant said that he found out his real estate license inactive leaving his clients in the dark. Jeff Varner however says he is currently looking for another firm that is willing to support him in these dark times. And, he is bringing these clients with him to what he promised as a better home. He regrets that his former employer didn’t inform him of his termination personally and felt he was completely blindsided by his firing.
“Survivor” Game Changers, the current season of the reality competition for its 34th season, was filmed ten month ago in the Mamanuca Islands of Fiji. According to the openly gay Jeff Varner, he has done a lot of growing up to do from when the infamous episode was filmed. “I have spent 10 months stewing in this awful, horrible mistake I have made,” he said.
According to Jeff Varner, he has already apologized to Zeke Smith and they have spoken several times over the phone. Varner said that Smith has continually forgiven him. He also likewise has forgiven him for calling him a bigot and a person full of hate. Verner knows that the other “Survivor” contestant only said those because he was in pain and didn’t mean them.
Meanwhile, Zeke Smith, 29, who is still in the competition on “Survivor,” told People that he is still struggling to forgive Jeff Varner. He added that he was more hurt with Varner trying to make people believe that transgenders are dangerous and deceitful people than his outing him. According to Smith, it is the same reasoning used to discriminate against, attack and murder trans people. He said it is just great that people did not buy it.
