Chris Hadfield, who is the commander of the International Space Station, just released the first ever music video recorded in space. Performing his own rendition of David Bowie's classic hit "Space Oddity," Hadfield tours the spacecraft showing incredibly fitting imagery. He is literally "sitting in a tin can far above the world." A social media celebrity of sorts with educational YouTube, Twitter and Facebook posts piling up since March, Commander Hadfield has released his final video. He is set to return to Earth on May 15.

As you can imagine, most of Bowie's lyrics for "Space Oddity" resonate a little more considering an actual astronaut is literally singing this song in space. Also, as the lyrics are striking chords in the viewers' minds, the imagery is astounding. While singing about being "far above the world," Hadfield positions himself in a way that planet Earth is over his shoulder.

In the credits section at the end of the video, we learn that Commander Hadfield recorded the guitars and vocals while in space as well. This is not the first time Hadfield has recorded a song in space. This past Christmas Eve, the Commander released the song "Jewel in the Night," which was recorded on his handicam in the International Space Station.

During his time as the first Canadian Commander of the International Space Station, Chris Hadfield took time to answer questions, post pictures, host live-chats, make videos and generally educate his followers all over the world. As of now, this music video is apparently the final video that Commander Hadfield will provide for us. He is set to return to Earth on May 15 and will most likely start an interview tour.

Do not expect to have seen the last of Commander Chris Hadfield. This guy is a true star!
