Lady Gaga Gives Impromptu Jazz Perfomance, First Since Hip Surgery
Great news, Little Monsters! Lady Gaga just gave her first performance (kind of) since her hip surgery in March. The ARTPOP diva rushed the stage at trumpeter Brian Newman's New York show for an impromptu jazz performance. The duo performed "Someone to Watch Over Me," a George Gershwin standard, during the Thursday night show.
There's no video of the show, so here's Ella Fitzgerald performing the tune:
'Thanks to the 1&only @ladygaga for coming out to @GPHhotel tonight an singing a song!!' Newman tweeted after the show at Gramercy Park Hotel's Rose Bar.
Lady Gaga was forced to stop touring after tearing a muscle in her right hip. She was in the middle of her "Born This Way Ball" Tour at the time. Gaga underwent surgery to repair the muscle tear and has been recovering ever since. Since then, Gaga has been named the second most influential person of the last decade and continues to work on her long-awaited Born This Way follow-up ARTPOP.
