'Star Wars 7' News [VIDEOS]: J.J. Abrams Explains 'Star Trek' Differences and 2015's 'Episode VII' on 'Daily Show', Jon Stewart Joins Cast?
Director J.J. Abrams has been making the press rounds in support of his new film Star Trek Into Darkness but a lot of the questions he gets are about his involvement in Star Wars: Episode VII. Most questions deal with his approach and who he wants in it, but while on "The Daily Show" host Jon Stewart and Abrams discussed the differences between the two science fiction franchises. It is definitely an interesting take on the Star Wars news that is not about the plot, cast, or production.
In this Comedy Central interview, the comedian and the director discuss the fundamental differences between Star Trek and Star Wars. We recently covered a similar story when Abrams sat down with Star Trek star and Star Wars fan Simon Pegg.
Abram's calls his new job on taking on Star Wars as well as continuing Star Trek (to some degree) and "incredible, surreal thrill" and then the two get into the differences between the two.
Abrams admits to not even liking Star Trek growing up, calling it too "philosophical" and how he wanted to change that when he took over the film reboot. At this, Stewart facetiously said that he stopped listening to the director after he admitted to not liking the original show.
J.J. then goes on to explain that he wanted to make the movie for moviegoers as well as fans. As the interview continued, Abrams and Stewart both expressed that the two franchises were indeed different. Check out the interview right here:
