‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Finale Teases Big Changes For Mon-El, New Characters In Season 3
Season 3 of The CW series may see the addition of new DC characters, specifically from the Legion of Superheroes. The "Supergirl" Season 2 Finale hinted their appearance when Kara sent Mon-El off in a pod.
The "Supergirl" Season 2 Finale ended with a cliffhanger about Mon-El's fate in Season 3. The episode, titled "Nevertheless, She Persisted," saw Mon-El leave Kara's planet after she activated the device that filled her Earth with lead in order to defeat the Daxamites. Kara sent her boyfriend off on the same pod that brought him to her Earth from Daxam.
Kara believed that sending him off was the only way she can save him from lead poisoning. Unfortunately, the pod that Mon-El was in got pulled into a wormhole in the Phantom Zone. According to Comicbook, this development in the "Supergirl" Season 2 Finale is telling of the appearance of the Legion of Superheroes in Season 3.
DC fans may be familiar with Mon-El's fate in the "Supergirl" Season 2 Finale from the comics. In the books, he was placed in stasis in the Phantom Zone after he got lead poisoning. The Legion of Superheroes tended to Mon-El and they eventually released him once they found a cure.
This is also not the first time that the show hinted at the Legion of Superheroes possible appearance in Season 3. According to Fansided, the introduction of the Fortress of Solitude in a previous episode is already an Easter Egg. Likewise, the presence of their flight ring clearly points to their future addition to the series.
Interestingly, DC All Access also released a video back in December that hinted at the Legion of Superheroes appearance in the show. For starters, the addition of Mon-El supposedly already paves the way for this group of teenaged heroes from the future to be in the series. Mon-El's questionable fate in the "Supergirl" Season 2 Finale further fuels their possible appearance in Season 3.
