‘The Flash’ Season 4 Air Date, Spoilers, Cast Updates: What We Know So Far
Details about "The Flash" Season 4 remain scarce, although fans have come up with various theories as to what happens in the installment. Team Flash battles a new villain and Barry Allen does not stay long in the Speed Force.
The CW has yet to announce a release date for "The Flash" Season 4 except that it returns this Fall. Given the previous seasons, it is likely that it airs in October 2017. What can fans expect from the installment? For starters, the new season's Big Bad is a not a speedster but a human.
According to Digital Spy, Clifford DeVoe aka The Thinker is the main villain in "The Flash" Season 4. The Season 3 Finale hinted his appearance in the installment, when Savitar told Barry that he has yet to fight the villain in the future.
Casting for The Thinker in "The Flash" Season 4 is underway, according to TV Line. The studio is looking for a 40-year old male to play the main villain. Details on who has auditioned for the role remain under wrap. Series regulars Danielle Panabaker, Grunt Gustin, Iris West, Keiynan Lonsdale, Tom Felton, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh are expected to return in the installment. It is still unclear which character Cavanagh plays, although it is likely Earth 2 Harry.
Meanwhile, fans speculate that "The Flash" Season 4 takes after the DC "Rebirth" storyline. In the comics, Barry returns to Central City from the Speed Force but has to return to the Speed Force to spare his friends, when he realizes that he is turning into the new Black Flash. Upon his return, he learns that a resurrected Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash has infected him with a negative Speed Force, which is the cause of his transformation.
However, if "The Flash" Season 4 follows this storyline then it makes Season 3 pointless. The story would just revert to Season 2 when Team Flash battled Black Flash. Still, this is an interesting theory given that both Black Flash and Reverse Flash are dead. One thing for sure though is that the installment has another crossover episode with "Arrow," "Legends of Tomorrow" and "Supergirl."
