‘Supergirl’ Season 3 Release Date, Casts Update, Spoilers: Show Airs Early October
Details about "Supergirl" Season 3 remain scarce other than it returns in October with a new main villain. While there will be new characters, one is sadly also leaving the installment.
The CW has yet to announce the release date for "Supergirl" Season 3 although according to Den of Geek it likely airs early October. The estimate is on Oct. 2 or 9, but the network has yet to confirm this.
Ahead of the show's return, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed the Big Bad in "Supergirl" is Reign. His confirmation came after that tease in the Season 2 Finale about the villain's appearance. Kreisberg added that "Pure Genius" star Odette Anabelle will play the recurring role of one of DC's "Worldkillers."
"Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Odette for years. We are beyond excited to have her join our cast in the scary, powerful and heartbreaking role of Reign," Kreisberg told TV Line. Reign will reportedly be different from her comic book version in "Supergirl" Season 3. However, no details have been provided as of yet.
Unfortunately, "Supergirl" Season 3 has lost one of its important characters from Season 2. Maggie, Alex Danvers' girlfriend (Floriana Lima) will no longer have recurring appearances in the installment. Kreisberg confirmed that Lima has decided to leave the series in pursuit of other opportunities.
Expect fans to see Maggie in a few episodes only according to Kreisberg. Lima also confirmed her exit from the show on her Twitter page. Her departure though does not mean the end of Sanvers. Lima tweeted that Sanvers is not over yet. Perhaps fans will still see a Sanvers wedding in "Supergirl" Season 3.
On a good note, the synopsis confirms that Mon-El (Chris Wood) will return in "Supergirl" Season 3, despite his uncertain fate teased in the Season 2 Finale. Speculations are rife that Mon-El's disappearance into the Phantom Zone hints at the addition of the Legion of Superheroes in the installment.
