Billboard Social 50 Chart Toppers BTS & EXO Makes History For South Korean Boy Bands
Korean pop stars rule the charts for this week as two of the most popular South Korean boy bands make it to the first and second topmost over 50 other artists in Billboard Social 50. Billboard Social 50 collects data from YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace. Now it has added iLike, SoundCloud, Instagram, Vine, and Tumblr. The artist's respective social media sites will be ranked according to the most active musical artist through its addition of friends, followers, the number of website views and streaming of their music per week.
The No. 1 spot now for the week of September 23, 2017, was awarded to BTS for their upcoming comeback album "Love Yourself: Her" which is set to release on Sept. 18, Officially Kmusic reports. More so, their anticipated "BTS COMEBACK SHOW" has been a great impact for their fans to follow them to get the most updated news regarding the group. "BTS COMEBACK SHOW" will be shown on Mnet on Sept 21 at 8:30 p.m. KST.
The No. 2 spot was well covered by another South Korean boy band, EXO for their recently released repacked album for "War: The Power of Music." In a report from Billboard, this event becomes Billboard's first in history since its launch in Dec 2010. BTS and EXO's popularity is undeniable especially for the latter group who will also attend the KCON 2017 Australia on Sept 22 and 23.
The next top spot goes to Arianna Grande, Zayn Malik, and Justin Bieber respectively; data's are tracked through Next Big Sound, a music analytics company. BTS is already in its 39th week at No. 1 while EXO gets the highest leap at No. 10 to No. 2, marking the group's highest rank for this chart. EXO's music video for "Power" is at No.3 on World Digital Song Sales earning 2,000 downloads.
