Nine Inch Nails, 2013 Album & Tour: Trent Reznor Closer to Releasing Music with Iconic Industrial Rock Band, New NIN Members
Trent Reznor has announced that Nine Inch Nails will release a new studio album - the first since 2008's The Slip - sometime this year on their new label, Columbia Records. Back in 2009, Reznor and the rest of Nine Inch Nails took part in a farewell tour, which would serve as the last time he would perform under his iconic moniker. Fortunately for fans, Reznor has decided to come back to Nine Inch Nails with a new tour and new album, putting his film-scoring career on hold for now.
"I've been less than honest about what I've really been up to lately," Trent Reznor said in a recent statement to announce the return of his band. "For the last year I've been secretly working non-stop with Atticus Ross and Alan Moulder on a new, full-length Nine Inch Nails record, which I am happy to say is finished and frankly f--king great. This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again. My forays into film, How to Destroy Angels and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place. Here we go!"
Of course, Reznor won an Oscar with Ross for his work on the film The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, which has given him a career in scoring for film. In a nice turn of events, this new career path lead the dark songwriter back to Nine Inch Nails.
"This is the real impetus and motivation behind the decision to assemble a new band and tour again," Reznor added in the same statement. "My forays into film, HTDA and other projects really stimulated me creatively and I decided to focus that energy on taking Nine Inch Nails to a new place."
With Reznor back in center stage, Nine Inch Nails' new lineup also includes Alessandro Cortini, Josh Eustis, Robin Finck and Ilan Rubin. The latest incarnation of Nine Inch Nails will make its debut at the Fuji Rock Festival in Naeba, Japan on July 26th.
