Kanye West New Album, 'Yeezus' Will Not Be Available For Pre-Order,Stream Before June 18 Release Date, Will Album Feature Any Artwork?
While we have been obsessing over Kanye West's Yeezus around these parts, particularly over the title, tracklisting and cover art, it appears that Yeezy may have pulled a fast one on all of us. Though 'Ye has previewed a few songs via SNL and building projections, it looks like fans will have to wait all the way until June 18 to hear anything else.
French designer and Kanye cohort Jean Touitou tweeted out the above flyer that respectfully requested you wait until June 18 to purchase Yeezus. This tactic flies in the face of the recent early streaming/pre-order craze of 2013 and follows a similar pattern from his Jay-Z collaboration Watch The Throne. As if that wasn't interesting enough, the picture of the album comes sans artwork. A clear jewel case, a plain cd. The only indication that this is Kanye's album at all comes from a red label that reads Yeezus.
So, while we're getting riled by possible alternative crucifixion cover art and gold blobs, Kanye may just drop a blank disk on our heads.
Here's the tweet:
What do you think? Would Kanye West release an album with no art to speak of? Will Yeezus come not only without a rabble-rousing cover booklet, but minus any booklet at all? Are you bummed that Yeezus won't be available for pre-order?
