Will Ferrell Miniseries: Jessica Alba, Kristen Wiig, Tobey Maguire, Others Join ‘Anchorman’ IFC Miniseries ‘The Spoils of Babylon’ Cast
The IFC network has announced a spoof miniseries starring Will Ferrell and an all-star lineup set to premiere in early 2014, according to an article on TVGuide.com.
The miniseries, entitled "The Spoils of Babylon," will also star Jessica Alba, Kristen Wiig, Tobey Maguire, Haley Joel Osment, Val Kilmer, Tim Robbins and Michael Sheen.
Here is the description of the show, according to TV Guide:
"The Spoils of Babylon is based on the fictional novel by fictional author Eric Jonrosh (Ferrell), who has 57 best-sellers in 85 different languages. The six-part series is a century-spanning saga about a family - Jonas Morehouse (Robbins), his daughter Cynthia (Wiig) and her adopted brother Devon (Maguire) - who made their fortune in the oil business. The story also includes Cynthia's evil son Winston (Osment), her husband Chet Halner (Sheen) and Devon's new love interest Dixie Mellonworth (Alba)."
The show will also feature "illegal arms deals, international espionage and characters like the Shah of Iran (Ferrell) an two Army generals played by Kilmer and Steve Tom."
IFC president and general manager Jennifer Caserta said the following in a release:
"This amazingly talented cast will give this decadent genre its due respect. Never before has a parody of a mini-series been more poised for showers of accolades."
The parody miniseries is produced by Funny or Die. Ferrell, Adam McKay (who wrote and directed Anchorman and Anchorman: The Legend Continues), Matt Piedmont, Andrew Steele and Nate Young executive produce. Steele and Piedmont created and wrote the miniseries and Piedmont is directing.
