Blake Shelton Twitter War: [Update] Oak Ridge Boys meet Shelton, Shelton says they are his heroes (VIDEO)
Blake Shelton's twitter contained a heartwarming picture today of a country star with a group which he calls his heroes.
The Oak Ridge Boys are a country band who play one of the most well known country songs still rocking juke boxes to this day, "Elvira." The group started as a southern gospel band in the 1950s, and are still active today, albeit not as active. They were founded in the 1940s, but back in that time they were known as the Oak Ridge Quartet, they didn't change their name until the 50s, according to Wikipedia. The group we know now has been together since 1973. Making this year their 40th anniversary on the stage of country music. (They have been playing country music for 17 years longer than I have been on this earth) They have won a barrage of awards, including four CMA Awards between 1978 and 1986. It is no wonder that they are Shelton's heroes. It is great when someone is able to meet someone who inspired them to be who they are today. Blake Shelton worked his way up to where he is, and is now able to hang out and have a beer with those that gave him courage. Blake Shelton seems to leave fame trails wherever he goes, and the Oak Ridge Boys got a taste of that since this tweet happened.
