'Diana' Movie Trailer [VIDEO]: Naomi Watts Stars as Late Princess Di, 'The Most Famous Woman In The World'
Before Kate Middleton, the world was enthralled with Princess Diana. The first trailer for the Oliver Hirschbiegel-directed biopic starring Naomi Watts as the late Princess, is now available for viewing. Diana focuses on the final two years of the famous Royal's life and includes the stories of her relationships with heart surgeon Dr. Hasnat Khan (played by "Lost" actor Naveen Andrews) and Dodi Fayed (played by Argo actor Cas Anvar). It also touches on Diana's campaign against land mines.
Originally titled Caught in Flight, the simpler title Diana definitely hits a chord with those who remember the late princess and the fame that she saw during her short life. The trailer touches on some important parts in her life including her work with children, her campaign against land mines (which is still active today in the hands of her family), and her relationship with the paparazzi.
Obviously the big draw for the film is her relationships with Dr. Hasnat Khan and Dobi Fayed. Also, the movie will most likely end with her untimely death along with Fayed in 1997.
During filming, actress Naomi Watts said, "I'm excited and honored to be playing the role of a truly remarkable woman, who had such a positive and profound impact in so many ways."
The production company Ecosse said that this biopic "charts how finding true personal happiness allowed her to achieve her defining successes, as she evolved into a major international campaigner and humanitarian".
Considering the subject material of the film, many people were and are still concerned with how it will turn out. Ecosse said that "everyone's aim [was] to produce a truly insightful and compassionate study of Diana's later years".
