Kate Middleton Baby Bump, Due Date: Pregnant Duchess and Prince William's Child May Help U.K. Economy, Same Delivery Day as Kim Kardashian?
There have been plenty of reports claiming the actual due date for the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge's royal baby, but most agree that it will take place somewhere between mid- and late July. Some reports claim that the future heir to the throne will be born on July 11, 2013, and if that is the case the royal baby will reportedly share a birthday with the Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's child. Surely the reality star would like to have that connection to the Royal Family. But whenever Kate's child is born, reports are estimating that the new royal could possibly help with the United Kingdom's economy.
Britain's economy is very flat these days and the country has no idea how to pick it back up. Last quarter, it grew at the lackluster rate of 0.3 percent.
The highly anticipated birth of Kate Middleton and Prince William's first child has already garnered plenty of attention throughout Britain, so when the future heir actually comes into the world consumerism is expected to increase. Happy occasions such as this have proven to be fuel for spending money and with this being such a joyous occasion for the Royal Family economists expect a boost in national pride along with tea, cakes and commemorative china.
Pauline Maclaran, co-author of Tiaras, Teat Towels and Tourism: Consuming the British Royal Family and a professor of marketing and consumer research at Royal Holloway, had this to say about the effects of the royal birth on Britain's economy:
"Royal fever is more intense now, actually. At a time of crisis, when there is financial depression, people look for something to lift themselves."
Though hopes are high that this will help out the economy, that would only come second in importance to the actual blessed event of the royal birth.
"It will focus the eyes of the world on Britain," historian Hugo Vickers said. "Everyone is excited by a baby. And everyone is really excited by a royal baby. And everyone is very, very excited when the baby is the heir to the throne."
Though Kate and Will have already helped the economy over the last three years of their marriage. Specifically, photographers constantly hound Kate to get a glimpse at what she is wearing. Once the public sees the Duchess' fashion choice, the money comes out.
