Jason Leffler Death: Crash Kills NASCAR Racer, NJ Dirt Track Site of Horrific Accident, NASCAR Community, Fans Mourn Loss

Jason Leffler was a race car driver in NASCAR. He was in New Jersey racing on a dirt track when he was involved in a violent car crash. Leffler was 37 years old, and his 5 year old son Charlie, is now without his father.

The nation is mourning the loss of Leffler. His death at Bridgeport Speedway in Swedesboro, New Jersey happened during a qualifying race, which was to be 25 laps in a sprint car. Leffner had to be pulled out of the vehicle.

 According to CNN, Leffler was on the fourth turn of the preliminary heat when his car left the banked dirt track and flipped several times down the front straightaway, the South Jersey Times newspaper reported, citing witnesses.

"NASCAR extends its thoughts, prayers and deepest sympathies to the family of Jason Leffler who passed away earlier this evening," NASCAR said Wednesday in a statement made on twitter. "For more than a decade, Jason was a fierce competitor in our sport and he will be missed."
