What do Nickelback, the Backstreet Boys, and Fast and the Furious have in common? Chances are if you walk up to any individual on the street and you ask them, "Hey, what do you think about Nickelback?" They will more than likely reply with, "They suck and I wish they weren't a band at all." You can actually go onto facebook and see hate pages about both bands, and the movie series. People love to hate these shows, yet, they sell out just about every time. It is kind of a strange phenomenon.

Nickelback is a great example. If you were to observe that same person in their car listening to the radio, the song "Rock Star" might just come on and somehow, even though they say they heavily dislike the band, they are able to sing every word. It might be a good wager to guess they would also accept a set of tickets to the band. They would take them and say, "Ill just scalp these," then once the concert starts they have a beer in their hand and they are jumping and singing along to the band.

A great correlation comes when you talk about the Backstreet Boys, and Fast and the Furious. The backstreet boys, back in their prime, were one of the hottest bands around yet almost anyone you asked (who wasn't a teenage girl) would have told you they hated them. Somehow the Backstreet Boys make a comeback, and the whole world acts like the Beatles came back from the grave to play one last concert.

Now we toss in the movie series The Fast and the Furious. They have now completed six movies and judging by the ending of the last one, it is apparent they're making a seventh. So why is it that the theater is packed every time one of these movies comes out, even though people gripe and moan when they see a preview for it? You will hear things like, "They are making another one? When are they going to stop? Its turning into SAW!" If you walk up to a random person on the street, they will tell you the movies are lame. Yet this year, Fast six broke records, making almost two times as much money as they anticipated.

People love to jump on the "Yeah, I hate them too" bandwagon. It is obvious that they are not actually on that ride, however. Most people who say they dislike these things actually do. Maybe it is a guilty pleasure or something. One thing is for sure, it would seem that they want it that way.
