Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus DIVORCE, Miley Cyrus Angrily Tweets at Father Wanting to Talk [PHOTOS]
Yesterday (June 13) was a sad day for the Cyrus clan: superstar Miley Cyrus's parents, Billy Ray and Tish, are getting a divorce.
E! Online has confirmed that Billy Ray has filed for petition for divorce from wife and Miley's mom, Tish, after 19 years of marriage. He did so in Nashville, while Tish filed her own petition in Los Angeles, citing irreconcilable differences.
This is not the first time the Cyruses have filed for divorce. In March 2011, Billy Ray, best known for his one-hit wonder "Achy Breaky Heart" and his stint on Hannah Montana, filed in Oct. 2010. The couple then made up, and that petition was removed in March 2011, according to E!.
"This is a personal matter and we are doing what is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time," Billy Ray said in a statement.
In a quote almost identical to her soon-to-be ex, Tish told E!, "This is a personal matter and we are working to find a resolution that is in the best interest of our family. We ask that you respect our privacy at this time."
Though this matter is personal, that doesn't stop Internet speculation, particularly when there is social media involved.
Yesterday, "We Can't Stop" singer Miley tweeted a biting, cryptic message to her father. "[S]ince your text and email obviously aren't working would you like to talk like this?" Miley asked her father via Twitter. Amid the family drama, it seems clear that Billy Ray was not communicating with his children.
Meanwhile, Tish was retweeting religious passages looking for strength. "'In this world, you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.' -Jesus (John 16:33)" and "God never promises the absence of storms. He just promises to walk with us through them!" were seen on her feed.
Billy Ray, meanwhile, has remained mum on his Twitter. He hasn't composed a tweet since June 5.
Billy Ray and Tish Cyrus got married in 1993. The couple has five children.
