Pink Floyd Spotify: Classic Rock Band Issues Fan Challenge, Promises Full Catalog On Streaming Service After One Million Streams

The classic rock band Pink Floyd went on Twitter on Thursday night and issued a challenge to fans, and the prize is a big one for those who love the group.

The band announced that if fans stream "Wish You Were Here," one of its most famous songs, one million times on Spotify, then Pink Floyd would release its entire catalog onto the streaming music service.

Pink Floyd has not really touched Spotify to this point. According to Rolling Stone, EMI Records holds the rights to Pink Floyd's music catalog. Spotify signed a deal with EMI in 2011 but Pink Floyd was not part of that deal, according to Mashable.

Pink Floyd also sued EMI in 2010 after the company allowed iTunes users to download single songs rather than allowing only full album downloads.

The band released 14 albums from 1967 to 1994. "Wish You Were Here" ame off the album of the same name in 1975.
