J. Cole 2013: Fan Will Buy 'Born Sinner' if Rapper Retweets Him, Threatens To Kill Sister Otherwise
Some people will go a long way to get the attention of a celebrity (as seen in countless Belieber cases). One Twitter user may have gone too far when he threatened to kill his little sister if rapper J. Cole didn't give him a retweet.
A user with the handle @_TzC_ (user name listed as "That Ain't My Kid") sent a tweet to Cole, saying that if he got the retweet, he'd buy the rapper's new album "Born Sinner." If not, he would "kill my lil sister." It sounded comical but the tweet was packaged with a photo of a hand pointing a firearm at a young girl.
The message got through to J. Cole, who evidently didn't mind negotiating with terrorists because he gave the desired retweet. Cole's take on the event: "Wildest s--- I ever seen on Twitter."
As it would turn out, the firearm was actually only a BB gun. @_TzC_ later told followers that his mother, albeit angry at him, had been in the room at the same time. Viewers probably could've guessed it was a hoax based on the nonplussed look the sister has on her face.
Naturally, @_TzC_ received backlash from the Twitter community and real-world community for the post. Police came by the home to investigate the incident and the Twitter world as a whole didn't find it too funny. The tweeter didn't give too much ground however, maintaining a humorous tone in following posts.
"Chief Keef can get away with ordering a hit but I can't point a BB gun at my own sister?" he asked. "Y'all ain't s---."
He would later admit the stunt was stupid.
"Being an internet thug backfired on me. I learned my damn lesson..." he said, following up with a touch of snark. "I hope White Twitter still accepts me after this."
