Ellen Page 2013: 'Juno' Star Disapproves of Playstation 3's 'The Last of Us' Stealing Her Image
Playstation 3 game "The Last of Us" has garnered plenty of praise from video game critics since its release a few weeks ago, but on celebrity isn't so happy with the title. Actress Ellen Page thinks that one of the game's key characters, the similarly-named Ellie, looks a little too much like her for Page's comfort.
Many fans of the game have made the comparison since playing the post-apocalyptic game. Ellie's got similar eyes to Page, a rounded face like Page's, and probably most telling, a swoop of bangs combed to the left of her face. The actress, who earned an Oscar nomination in "Juno," opened up about the likeness when asked during a Reddit "Ask Me Anything" segment.
"I guess I should be flattered that they ripped off my likeness," she said. "But I am actually acting in a video game called Beyond: Two Souls, so it was not appreciated."
"Two Souls" is another title that will be released solely for Playstation 3, and the ire between the creators of that game and "The Last of Us" could provide drama for the company. Neil Druckman, the creative director behind "Last of Us" commented on the similarities via Twitter.
"It's a fair point -- Johnson (Ashley Johnson, the actress who actually played Ellie) is absolutely fantastic in the game," he said. "But the similarities between Ellie and Ellen run pretty deep. Early images of Ellie bore a much more striking resemblance to Page. Eventually, her hairstyle was altered, the scar over her right eyebrow became much more pronounced and she took on a stronger overall look."
Hopefully that patches things up. But it seems rough for Page to be so sensitive. Being transformed into a video game character seems awesome.
