MGMT New Album 2013 "MGMT" Release Date Sept 17: Alt-Group Reveals 2013 Tour Dates
Alternative rock band MGMT has announced an official release date for its upcoming third album. "MGMT," the band's first self-titled album, will launch on September 17.
The formula, at least from a production perspective, will be very similar to that of the duo's first two albums, 2008's "Oracular Spectacular" and 2010's "Congratulations." Ben Goldwasser and Andrew VanWyngarden underwent recording at Tarbox Road Studios in New York, where like the group's previous records, production will be handled by Dave Fridmann.
Details known about the record are as such: It will include a cover of '60s group Faine Jade titled "Introspection." One song, "Alien Days," was released in April via a Record Store Day exclusive. Listen to the single below:
The packaging for "MGMT" is also getting a lot of attention, with four visual artists crafting a package they call "The Optimizer." It will feature video and CGI pieces packaged with an enhanced version of the basic album.
