Miley Cyrus can officially mark "We Can't Stop" as a success. The former Disney star's comeback single has broken Justin Bieber's record for the most viewed video on VEVO in 24 hours, the video service announced today (June 25) via their official Twitter.

"IT'S OFFICIAL! @MileyCyrus has broken the @VEVO 24hr record w/ #WeCantStop! RT using #MileyVEVO to congratulate her!" the company tweeted shortly after 1 p.m.

According to VEVO, Cyrus' "We Can't Stop" received 10.7 million views in a single day, barely beating Bieber's record of 10.6 million views in 24 hours for "Beauty and a Beat," featuring Nicki Minaj.

Both videos had a lot of hype leading up to their release. Last summer, Bieber reported that his laptop was stolen and that someone was blackmailing him with personal footage.

The whole thing turned out to be a hoax, and the Biebz surprised his fans by releasing a new song and video.

Meanwhile, Cyrus had been teasing about her new video for "We Can't Stop" ever since the single was released earlier this month. The clip quickly gained controversy for its depiction of a wild party. Cyrus is seen writhing around on a bed, sensuously playing with her clothes and grabbing women's butts in the video.

Cyrus has been promoting the video hard, encouraging her Smilers to watch the clip frequently on her Twitter. Bieber, of course, has his Beliebers. The two pop stars' dedicated fan bases are clearly what helped them skyrocket to the huge number of VEVO views, but the controversy of "We Can't Stop" brought Miley just slightly ahead.
