'Star Wars 7' News, Casting Rumors [VIDEOS]: Hollywood's Biggest Stars Talk 2015's 'Episode VII,' Dominic Monaghan Nabs Role in J.J. Abrams Movie?
It's funny how a cryptic answer to a simple question can spark casting rumors when it comes to one of the most highly anticipated films of recent years. With Star Wars: Episode VII reportedly starting production in 2014, fans have been waiting to hear pretty much anything in terms of the new cast and characters. So far all we have is a casting call sheet that describes some main characters, but this of course has just added fuel to the fire in terms of rumors. We know WHAT J.J. Abrams is looking for, but now it's all a matter of WHO. A recent red carpet interview might have given us some insight into the latter.
During the premiere for The Lone Ranger, actor Dominic Monaghan was asked if he had been offered a role in the new Star Wars film.
"I can't answer that question," he replied, smiling. "Ask J.J. Abrams - he'll know."
Of course this does not mean the "Lost" actor will be grabbing a light saber any time soon, but the way he answered can definitely be taken that way. After all, on of the casting calls described one character as: "Thirtysomething male, intellectual. Apparently doesn't need to be fit."
Does it sound like the Lord of the Rings actor could fill that role?
Also, maybe in an attempt to start pretty much every casting rumor ever for the new Star Wars movie, Total Film has asked an impressive amount of Hollywood A-Listers about their thoughts on Episode VII. Check out the following videos featuring stars talking about Episode VII, including Bradley Cooper, Henry Cavill, Steve Carell, Alia Shawkat, Michael Cera, Sofia Coppola, Heather Graham, Justin Bartha, Amy Adams, Jeffrey Tambor, David Cross, Tony Hale, Ken Jeong, Michael Shannon, Antje Traue, Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg, Zach Galifianakis, Ed Helms, John Goodman, and Billy Crystal.
