Kriss Kross' Chris Kelly Cause Of Death Officially Ruled An Overdose

While it has long been rumored that Kriss Kross member Chris Kelly died of a drug overdose, and police reports admitted that he was using drugs prior to his death on May 1, the official cause of death was just determined by a toxicology report performed by the Fulton County Medical Examiner.

The report says that Kelly had a mixture of drugs in his systems but it cannot determine specific drugs that were in the 34-year-old's system at the time of his passing.

Kelly reportedly fell into drug abuse after a windfall after a Kriss Kross reunion concert earlier this year.

Kelly's mother announced his death via the following statement:

"It is with deep sadness that we announce that our beloved Chris Kelly has passed away on May 1. To millions of fans worldwide, he was the trendsetting, backwards pants-wearing one-half of Kris Kross who loved making music. But to us, he was just Chris - the kind, generous and fun-loving life of the party. Though he was only with us a short time, we feel blessed to have been able to share some incredible moments with him. His legacy will live on through his music, and we will forever love him."
