Beck is feeling the distance on the new, airy track "I Won't Be Long."

After releasing "Defriended" early last month, the "Loser" rocker has unveiled a new single. "I Won't Be Long" is a 5-minute long mid-temp track. Like Beck has been apt to do in recent years, the song takes on an ethereal, relaxed vibe. Light drumming effects and the simple, repeated guitar riff

The song soon builds to a mixture of creeping vocals and uniquely Beck-like instrumentation, creating a completely full, atmospheric tune.

The winding instrumentals in the track bring to mind a meandering road, while the breathy vocals make one feel like floating. The track brings to mind relocating to another place. "Can't you hear the country station, / Coming from the other car, / Broken air condition, / No one has a clue where we are," Beck almost chants in the second verse. The distant-sounding chorus of "I won't be long," give the track an escapist feel.

Fans can pre-order "I Won't Be Long" on a vinyl record now. It will be officially released July 8. The B-side to the single contains a nearly 15-minute long remix. Similarly, "Defriended" comes with a 14-minute version.

According to Rolling Stone, Beck is reportedly working on two new albums to follow up 2008's Modern Guilt. One is an acoustic LP and the other will be a full-band "proper" follow-up. Neither "Defriended" nor "I Won't Be Long" are expected to be on the records.
