Paris Jackson Suicide Update: Michael Jackson's Brother Jermaine Jackson Blames Lack of Discipline
By this point, nearly everyone has had a chance to weigh in on Michael Jackson's daughter Paris and why she attempted to commit suicide early in June. Michael's brother Jermaine, also of the Jackson 5, gave his opinion yesterday in a man-on-the-street interview with TMZ. He believes that Paris was never disciplined enough and her ill-adjustment led to her destructive behavior.
"[Paris] has to learn there are certain guidelines when you grow up being a teenager," Jermaine said. "There are rules. I just think that ... things could have been enforced a little stronger."
What guardians he was laying that accusation on wasn't made clear. Paris is currently under the watch of her grandmother Katherine and cousin T.J. There have been suggestions that the teenager wasn't clicking with her grandmother, and if Katherine wasn't paying enough attention to Paris to begin with, that could be the subject of Jermaine's blame. However Paris also lived a relatively charmed life when her father was alive. The pop star was renowned/notorious for the care he provided his children, including assembling a personal circus for Paris's 11th birthday. Of course, such attention could also jade a child.
Jermaine stated to TMZ that he believed Paris's suicide attempt was the result of a tantrum thrown when the teen found out she wasn't allowed to attend a Marilyn Manson concert. The girl then cut her wrists and took around 20 Motrin.
It's the first time in a while that the Manson argument has been taken seriously as the possible cause for the suicide attempt. More likely suggestions have included grief over her deceased father, taunts from social media, and stress from the Jackson family's $40 billion lawsuit against AEG Live.
