Mick Jagger Hair Lock Nets $6,000 at Auction, Rolling Stones Singer’s Hair Used For Charity Fundraising
An unknown buyer purchased a lock of Mick Jagger's hair at an auction on Wednesday for $6,000, according to Reuters.
Bidders raised the price to double what it was expected to go for before the auction.
The Rolling Stones singer's ex-girlfriend, Chrissie Shrimpton, sold the lock of hair to raise money for the Changing Faces charity, which helps people who have suffered facial disfigurements.
Shrimpton, the sister of 1960s English model Jean Shrimpton, met Jagger when he was a student at the London School of Economics.
The hair came in an envelope that bore the message "Mick Jagger's hair after being washed + trimmed by Chris at Rose Hill Farm."
Jagger, who turns 70 later in July, and the Stones performed at the Glastonbury music festival last Saturday. They will take the stage again this weekend at the British Summer Time festival.
