Hollywood Game Night Host Jane Lynch Describes Show Format, Reveals Fun Challenges
"Glee" star Jane Lynch will host NBC's "Hollywood Game Night," which premieres Thursday at 10 p.m.
The actress sat down with TVLine to talk about the show's format and discussed the game's interesting challenges.
The show takes ordinary men and women and teams them with Hollywood celebrities in an attempt to win a $25,000 cash prize. Lynch will act as host and supervise the antics throughout the broadcast.
Those antics include a game called "Celebrity," which Lynch described as a game in which "the answers are all in a theme, like Steven Spielberg movies or Bruce Springsteen songs," and another game "where you have to get your team to guess what song you're singing, but with only the lyrics 'doo-doo.'"
Even though the show pairs average people with celebrities, Lynch said the celebrities have not overwhelmed one person during the competition:
"That's the fun thing about 'Hollywood Game Night.' Everyone shows up to play. And if they don't, they get there within 30 seconds. It's like going to a Hollywood party, but you're one of them. It's raucous and fun, and it's the great equalizer - once you get started you can't tell the civilian from the celebrity."
NBC has announced the following celebrity lineups for each of the show's eight episodes:
- Martin Short, Matthew Perry, Daniel Dae Kim, Kristen Bell, Alyson Hannigan and Lisa Kudrow
- Valerie Bertinelli, Cheryl Hines, Sarah Chalke, Yvette Nicole Brown, Rob Riggle and Matthew Morrison
- Sean Hayes, Dax Shepard, Amy Poehler, Fred Armisen, Jason Sudeikis and Maya Rudolph
