Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special 2013 [VIDEO]: David Tennant's 'End of Time' Fan-Made Prequel Explains November Episode & John Hurt
Over the weekend, we found out that John Hurt's character in the Doctor Who 50th Anniversary Special, who had previously been a mystery, will serve as a "missing link" Doctor in the series' universe. Costume designer Howard Burden explained, "There was a gap between Paul McGann playing the Doctor and Christopher Eccleston, when we didn't see a regeneration, and John Hurt will fit into that gap. He is a past Doctor, not a future Doctor." So now that we know how the antagonist of the special fits in, what about the special guest protagonist, David Tennant returning as the Tenth Doctor? How will they work in the crossing of his timeline with current Doctor Matt Smith's story?
Fortunately for us, a fan-made alternate ending to Tennant's swansong episode "The End of Time Part 2" might serve as a good idea of what the tie-in could be! Check it out right here:
On top of all of the fan-made trailers and things of the like, The National Media Museum has called on fans of the show "to share stories and memorabilia to contribute to an exhibition celebrating the 50th anniversary of the program this year."
The exhibition, Fifty Years of Doctor Who Fans, will explore the everlasting devotion of Doctor Who and highlight what the show means to the fans, what makes a fan, and how they demonstrate their affection.
Exhibition curator Toni Booth called for all Whovians to get in touch about their memorabilia.
"Do you have a Doctor Who chess set? Ever knitted your own Dalek? Have you still got that cyberman helmet in the attic? If so, these are exactly the kind of objects that might go towards creating this new exhibition," Booth said. "We would like to use examples of Doctor Who memorabilia from the past fifty years -- both official merchandise and more personal homemade objects -- the kind of things which show a fan's love for the Doctor."
Do you have any memorabilia you would like to share with or see at this exhibition?
