M.I.A. Documentary Director Steve Loveridge Quits Project After Leaking Teaser Trailer, 'Paper Planes' Rapper Turns to Kickstarter? [VIDEO]

After multiple delays and an increasingly frustrating process, the director for an upcoming documentary about rapper M.I.A. has quite the project after leaking a 2012 trailer.

On his personal website, www.vandlo.com, Steve Loveridge has expressed continuing disappointment over the documentary, Roc Nattion and Interscope Records. When a fan asked "Is the MIA doco still on hold?" He responded with "Yep. I get an email every few weeks from Rocnation or Interscope saying it's all going to start up again, then nothing."

Soon after, at the request of another fan, Loveridge posted a 2012 teaser from the documentary up on YouTube. "Reblog the s**t out of this and maybe they'll wake up," he wrote.

Roc Nation did wake up, however, and pulled the teaser off YouTube. The company then emailed Loveridge regarding the leaked video, and he quite the project, writing "Couldn't give a flying f*ck. Count me out. Would rather die than work on this... nothing personal :)"

Despite being pulled from YouTube, the documentary teaser is still on Vimeo, and shows appearances from record producers, Kanye West, Diplo and Spike Jonze, as well as personal footage of M.I.A. herself.

M.I.A. also is expressing frustration about the postponed documentary and her upcoming album, which has also experienced delays. Following the teaser leak, the "Paper Planes" rapper tweeted "im gonna need @kickstarted and my fans to help make this exist, ive been black listed through normal channels !!!!!!!"

Her upcoming album Matangi has yet to receive an official release date. However, "Bring the Noize," the first single off the album dropped on June 25.
