Kings of Leon have announced the release date of their new single "Supersoaker." Today, on the "Use Somebody" band's Twitter and Instagram, they announced the song will be officially released on July 17. It will be available for sale on iTunes and other digital platforms on that date.

Along with the release date, KOL also revealed the album's artwork: a light blue-green pool bottom with a yellow streak running diagonally. Water droplets reflect a splash and the band's name and single name are written in the lower right hand corner in a vintage font.

When "Supersoaker" is released, it won't be the first time fans will hear the new song. They first played it live at New York's Governor's Ball, and then most notably at a concert at London's O2 Arena last month.

The mid-tempo rock song is a return to form for Kings of Leon. Mixing the Southern sensibility of their debut album with the mature sound of Come Around Sundown, "Supersoaker" has the potential to appeal to KOL fans new and old.

"Supersoaker" will make its American TV debut on July 22, when Kings of Leon take to the Late Night With Jimmy Fallon stage.

The song will be the lead single from Kings of Leon's upcoming sixth studio album Mechanical Bull, which will be released on Sept. 24. Details remain scarce on the album, except for the sound, which drummer Nathan Followill told MTV will be more upbeat and fun, as well as a return to their gritty Southern rock roots.
