Nirvana Fan, Virginia Tech Mascot Sends Hilarious Letter To Sub Pop, Doesn't Realize Kurt Cobain Is Dead
The Virginia Tech mascot is a candidate for homecoming queen/king and is apparently putting together a video of famous musicians shouting out VT. He/she is also apparently the last person on Earth to realize that Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain is dead. The hilarious form letter was sent to the band's former label Sub Pop (it should be noted that Nirvana were signed to Geffen/DGC at the time of Kurt's suicide) and asked the band to send some homecoming wishes to the students.
The letter, which was posted on Sub Pop's Tumblr, also has some serious pronoun problems. The writer refers to themselves as both and "I" and a "we" before referring to the group Nirvana as a "her".
Check out some excerpts below:
"It presents great publicity for them, and as Virginia Tech loves Nirvana, we'd love to have her in our video. They would be one among artists including Big N Rich, Ying Yang Twins, the Cataracs, Slightly Stoopid, and three famous NFL Players."
"It would simply be "What's up Virginia Tech? This is Nirvana! Just wanted to wish you guys a Happy Homecoming Week and good luck at the game this Saturday. LETS GO HOKIES!
Sub Pop has said that the ridiculous form letter "doesn't preclude them from the fun of playing along."
So, be on the look out for any Sub Pop execs dressed as Kurt. It's likely their sending well wishes VT's way.
