Baby Cambridge has arrived and has been named George Alexander Louis. His Royal Highness will eventually sit on the throne of England, making him King George VII. But why did Kate Middleton and Prince William decide on these names? Is there any historical significance to any of them?

Historian and royal biographer Robert Lacey explained the history behind the new Prince's name:

"George is obviously a tribute to the Queen's father and will, I imagine, give Her Majesty great pleasure. But even as we say that we have to remember that her father's actual name was Albert or Bertie - he chose the name George. We may find that Prince George could decide to give himself a different name as king.

"George was a natural favorite to judge from the bookmakers. They will have lost a lot of money, I think. George was the favorite name from the start and so in that sense the Duke and Duchess reflected a popular trend. I think Prince William said he wanted to get to know him before they chose the name so they must feel he is a George."

Though Lacey makes a good point, Kate and Will insist that their son is not named after the Queen's father. According to sources, they said that they just liked the name!

As of today, a source said that Kate and William are "all doing well" and "enjoying time bonding with George and being around family" in Bucklebury with the Duchess' parents.

What is interesting is that most Royals, including William, have four names but the new Prince of Cambridge only has three.

Remember how the world was obsessed with Kate Middleton's baby bump? Well, the obsession hasn't stopped despite the birth of her son. When William and Princess Kate came out on Tuesday with their new baby in order to officially present him to the media, the 31-year-old mother also showed off her post-partum stomach. Not a lot of celebrities would have been okay with doing such a thing, but the Duchess has been receiving praise for her "brave" action.
