Angelina Jolie's surgeon who performed her double mastectomy says that the actress planned her announcement to the world well in advance. Dr. Kristi Funk tells Los Angeles Magazine in their September issue that 37-year-old Oscar winner "calculated" the moment she would make the announcement that she had surgery to prevent breast cancer.

At first sight, the headlines sound as if Jolie made the announcement to benefit her personally, but that doesn't seem to be the case at all. Rather, Dr. Funk tells Los Angeles Magazine that Jolie did it for her soul and philanthropic reasons as much as for personal or professional noting Jolie, "waited to find the perfect timing in her personal and professional life, but I think most importantly in her soul."

"She is intensely private, but she calculated the moment when she would be ready to reveal something so personal," Dr. Funk said. Jolie doctor went on to say that Jolie always knew that she wouldn't be able to keep her surgery a secret. "She knew always that in her philanthropic core she couldn't keep this a secret and be who she is," Dr. Funk said. "She always knew."

According to the Daily Mail's article, Jolie is planning on having her ovaries removed next after her mother and grandmother both passed away from ovarian cancer.

Jolie's movie career appears to still be going strong with a number of movies on the horizon. According to IMDB.com, Jolie is in the movie Maleficent in 2014 and will reportedly be in Kung Fu Panda 3 and Salt 2 as well.
