"American Horror Story" veteran Denis O'Hare has joined the cast of the show's upcoming Season 3, subtitled "Coven," according to the Twitter of series creator Ryan Murphy.

Murphy tweeted the following on Saturday:

Murphy did not provide any other details about O'Hare's role in Season 3.

O'Hare earned an Emmy nomination for his work on Season 1 of "American Horror Story" as burn victim Larry Harvey. The actor joins a cast filled with familiar faces and new additions.

Actress Lily Rabe, who portrayed Nora in Season 1 and Sister Mary Eunice in Season 2 (subtitled "Asylum), revealed to TVLine's Michael Ausiello some details about her character in Season 3. The following comes from the "Ask Ausiello" column:

"Question: I would love some scoop on American Horror Story: Coven if you have any. With that many talented actresses in the mix, there have to be character details by now! -Kevin

Ausiello: All Lily Rabe would divulge is that her new alter ego is 1) 'nothing like Nora or Mary Eunice from the first two seasons,' and 2) she'll definitely be working with Kathy Bates. ('I'm a big fan of hers,' she raved. 'I can't wait.') She also dropped this mind-blowing morsel: 'She's not a nun.'"

MStars previously reported that Emma Roberts, daughter of Oscar winner Julia Roberts, joined the cast of "Coven" alongside her boyfriend and AHS veteran Evan Peters.

"Coven" has started to take shape as AHS stars Rabe, Jessica Lange, Taissa Farmiga, Sarah Paulson and Frances Conroy will all return for Season 3. Bates, Angela Bassett, Patti LuPone and Gabourey Sidibe are all new additions to the cast.

As usual, the returning cast members on the show will portray different characters from their previous "American Horror Story" incarnations.

The first season of "American Horror Story," which aired in late 2011, followed a present-day family who moves from Boston to a haunted home in Los Angeles.

The second season takes place primarily in 1964 and follows the doctors and nuns who run Briarcliff Mental Institution for the criminally insane.

The third season will return to the modern day and Conroy stated, though she had yet to see a script, it would take place in New Orleans.
