'Homeland' Season 3 SPOILERS: Claire Danes and Producers Give Hints on What's To Come
Viewers of Season 2 of "Homeland" already know that the show went out with a bang. The shocking finale left viewers in the lurch: What will happen to Nick Brody (Damian Lewis), now that he's suddenly one of the most wanted criminals in the world? How will Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) react to the sudden change? The actors sat down with producers as part of the Television Critics Association press tour to give some hints.
As for main protagonist Carrie, Danes says that the character will be going off of her meds (a source of drama in many a show), and will find a special bond with Mandy Patinkin's character Saul as a result of the attack at the end of Season 2.
"(Carrie and Saul will be) very deeply connected because they experienced that trauma in a way no one else has," Danes said. "She does feel a certain level of betrayal, and also both Saul and Carrie share an enormous and profound amount of guilt and responsibility for this loss."
So what about Nick? Viewers have to wonder what's going through his mind right now, and surely the writers are going to address his plot line right off the bat. Or maybe not. Producer Alex Gansa said Nick won't make an appearance until episode 3 during the new season. Lewis seemed to be okay with the decision, siding with Gansa.
"Brody is on the lam," the actor said. "He's the most wanted criminal in the world, so he has to lay low. I think when you do see Brody I think you will see, and hopefully it will be of interest to the audience, what state he will be in. I hope when you do see Brody for the first time it will be interesting."
Come on Damian! You tell us we don't get to see Nick for two episodes, and then you tell us how interesting it will be when we do. What a jerk!
