Man of Steel Sequel: Report Claims Older Batman in 'Man of Steel' Sequel, Batman vs. Superman Movie

Fans have been speculating and fantasizing about who would play Batman in the Man of Steel sequel ever since the Batman/Superman film was announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2013. A new report may have shed some light on the part.

The site Batman-on-Film.com posted a report on Thursday that cites multiple sources (more than one, less than 10, according to the site) that the new Batman would be in his mid-40s.

This seems to indicate that Bruce Wayne/Batman will be a veteran, possibly one who has been the Caped Crusader for several years, in the Man of Steel sequel, as opposed to the Christian Bale portrayal in Batman Begins.

The author of the article does not confirm or deny any names, but he suggests Josh Duhamel, Jude Law, Gerard Butler, Josh Brolin, Jon Hamm, Brad Pitt, Ben Affleck and Jim Caviezel.

Another possibility is Jensen Ackles from "Supernatural." As Mstars previously reported, Ackles spoke to E! during San Diego Comic-Con 2013 and revealed that he would love to get the chance to play Batman.

"Any guy in his right mind would die to play Batman," Ackles said as he wore a Batman T-shirt. "It would be a dream come true. I won't hold my breath."

Ackles actually does have some comic book credentials to back up his wish as he voiced the Red Hood in the DC animated movie Batman: Under the Red Hood in 2010. Furthermore, he has years of experience with action scenes from his time on "Supernatural," so it would likely not be too difficult for him to transfer those skills to the big screen. And Ackles was also on the short list of actors to portray Captain America, a role that went to Chris Evans.
