Katy Perry 'Prism' Artwork? On Same Day as 'Roar' Teaser, 'Fireworks' Singer Releases Promotional Image for New Album 2013 [PHOTO]
On the same day that Katy Perry released the intense, angry teaser video for her new single 2013 "Roar," the pop star released a promotional image for her upcoming third studio album "Prism."
Posted on her official Facebook page, the image features a simple white background, with the album title spelled out in a triangular shape, obviously reflecting the "Prism" name.
Perry herself is wearing a golden, fuzzy sweater. The garment is big enough and draped casually enough to reveal a crimson bra strap. Known for wearing bold makeup, including bright red lipstick and heavy black eyeliner, Perry's look is far more simplistic in the photograph. Her makeup is a far lighter look, with pale pink lips and natural looking hues on her eyes and cheeks. Finally, her hair is in its relatively natural state (minus black dye -- Perry is a natural blonde), with flyaways and all.
Perry looks noticeably vulnerable in the teaser, her eyes look straight in to the camera, though her head is ever so slightly cocked to the side. It's strangely a revealing look, allowing the viewer to feel as though they really connect with the "Fireworks" singer.
The open, more natural photo for "Prism" falls in line with Perry's plan for her follow-up to 2010's "Teenage Dream." Perry has noted in several interviews that "Prism" will take a darker, more open turn, reflecting her divorce from comedian Russell Brand, most likely. Fans can expect "Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection" songs "Wide Awake" and "Part of Me" to lead the way, in terms of sound.
In addition to the teaser photo, Perry released a somber video yesterday for the first "Prism" single "Roar," in which she burns her infamous baby blue wig. Check out that video below.
