Matt Damon Slams President Obama: WATCH 'Elysium' Actor Discuss NSA, 'Stand Your Ground' Law [VIDEO] Weekend Box Office Results

Elysium actor Matt Damon has been known as a big supporter of President Obama, especially during his presidential campaign in 2008. However, it seems Damon has soured on the president, judging by a recent interview. During an interview with BET, Damon suggested that it feels like he and the President of the United States have separated. Damon told BET, "He (President Obama) broke up with me."

Damon's view on the president seems to have been strained after recent NSA spying scandals came to light and made national headlines. The NSA has been accused of spying on American citizens by collecting online data from millions of people.

"There are a lot of things that I really question," Damon said during his BET interview. "The legality of the drone strikes, these NSA revelations. Jimmy Carter came out and said we don't live in a democracy. That's a little intense when an ex-president says that."

Damon went on to say that the president has to come clean and give more information to the American public. "He's got some explaining to do, particularly for a constitutional law professor," Damon said.

The actor also gave his opinion on Florida's controversial "Stand Your Ground" law which became national news during the George Zimmerman trial and Trayvon Martin protests.

Meanwhile, Damon's new movie Elysium came in first place earning $30.5 million at the box office for its opening weekend, according to Hollywood.com. In second was the comedy "We're the Millers" with $26.55 million.
