'NSYNC Reunion at VMAs? Justin Timberlake, Former 'Pop' Bandmates to Perform First Time in 10 Years at 2013 MTV VMAs, Celebrate Lifetime Achievement Award [VIDEOS]
Fans thought it may have been "Bye Bye Bye" for good when 'NSYNC called it quits in 2002 with no hopes of a reunion. However, according to reports, the boy band may, in fact, be reuniting at the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards. JC Chasez, Lance Bass, Joey Fatone and Chris Kirkpatrick are slated to perform with Justin Timberlake at this year's award ceremonies, to help celebrate Timberlake's Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.
New York Post's Page Six reports that a source confirmed that the fivesome will make a "surprise" appearance and sign alongside their former bandmate.
It would be no real surprise if the other four 'NSYNC members did show up to help give Timberlake his lifetime achievement award. He did, in fact, get his start in the boy band, and 'NSYNC has their fair share of memorable, celebrated music videos. 'NSYNC has won seven VMAS -- three in 2000 for "Bye Bye Bye" and four the following year for "Pop."
Of course, the reunion wouldn't be 'NSYNC's first turn at the VMAs. The group took the stage in 2000 (a medley of "This I Promise You," "Bye Bye Bye" and "It's Gonna Be Me") and again in 2001 with Michael Jackson ("Pop").
If the rumors are true, the VMAs performance will be 'NSYNC's first time performing together since the 2003 Grammy Awards, during which they sang in part of a Bee Gees medley.
'NSYNC and Timberlake join a long list of big-name performers at the 2013 VMAs. The lineup includes Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Kanye West and Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, among others.
