Jimmy-rustled Joss Whedon fans of the collective TV-watching Internet rejoice! The cult sci-fi television series Firefly is returning...but probably not the way you'd like. Dark Horse is continuing the adventures Malcolm Reynolds et. al. in a monthly comic book series.

The publisher posted the above picture to its website on Friday (August 23) along with this brief press release:

Joss Whedon's beloved Firefly series and Serenity film's lifespan may have been short-lived, but managed to produce one of the most dedicated fanbases in the history of modern science fiction. Dark Horse is proud to be able to keep Mal and his crew flying with new comics and products. Look for the hashtag #WheresSerenity over the next few months on our Twitter, Facebook and Instagram pages for exclusive news on the future of the franchise at Dark Horse!

Fans are reacting on Twitter:

And Dark Horse posted an image of the famous ship, presumably from the upcoming comics.
