Kendrick Lamar 'Control' Verse: Joey Bada$$ Responds To Diss Track With 'Killuminati Pt. 2' [LISTEN]
Looks like Joey Bada$$ is the latest to respond to a verse that didn't really warrant all that much talk in the first place. You had to expect this, though. Other than A$AP Rocky, no other rapper has been held up as the return of New York hip-hop more than Joey, and his response to Kendrick Lamar's "Control" verse, "Killuminati Pt. 2" is one of the better ones out there.
The song starts with lines copped from Tupac's "Hail Mary." This is in reference to K-Dot saying he's the son of Makaveli (Tupac's late-era alter ego) before dropping the now infamous "King Of New York" line. After that, Joey Bad goes in on the TDE member, letting it be known that he should have been included on Lamar's verse, while refusing to mention him by name.
Be more specific next time you shoutin' out a-mi-go
I am not the star? In fact I'm planet awe
Fuck what the media write, bitch this is a fire bar
Please don't leave your comment if you are not up to par
No names, putting you in a verse that's too far
Your mundane can't obtain, the knowledge of my brain
My set told me light you up so this that propane
It's Nathan all I gotta do is just spit a flame
No escaping, you in a swimming pool of champagne
You set yourself up for that one mane
The king of New York?
Ha! we ain't just gon' let that one hang
He lays into Kendrick once more before the end of the song.
I'm the real king fella here
You more like Prince of Bel-Air
I'm clearing the air, might fire at will
These rap niggas don't want the static for real
Cuz they lines not adjacent to my spectacular skill
Overall, I'd say "Killuminati Pt. 2" is a strong third place contender for best "Control" response (if we aren't counting Bizarre from D12) behind Papoose and A$AP Ferg.
What do you think of Joey Bada$$' "Control" response?
