Paul McCartney 'New' Song: Macca Releases 'New' Ahead Of Upcoming Album, Sounds A Lot Like Old Beatles-Era Paul [VIDEO]
Paul McCartney has just released a new song called, appropriately enough, "New." "New" is the lead-off single from Macca's upcoming album which is also called New. However, for a song called "New" on an album called New, the Mark Ronson track sounds, well, old.
Not to say that's a bad thing. Beatles-era Paul, all showtunes and horns and bounce, is front and center on "New" (full disclosure: all of my favorite Beatles songs are Paul tracks). The uplifting track finds the 71-year-old looking back on his life optimistically over "whoos" and hanclaps.
New drops on October 15 in the US and the title may be a means of ensuring fans that P-Mac is off of the standards kick that made his awesome "wedded bliss" covers album Kisses On The Bottom so great. The album is the first studio album of new material from Paul since 2007.
If you want to see something really novel from Paul, check out his collaboration with The Bloody Beetroots. And maybe attempt to catch him at next month's iHeartRadio festival.
