MGMT New Album Trailer Features Wild Opossum, NSA Agents, Aliens: WATCH Bizarre Cinematic Clip Before 'MGMT' Release Date Sept. 17 [VIDEO]
It's slightly less than two weeks before the release of MGMT's third, self-titled album, and the psychedelic indie rock band have released a fittingly bizarre, 6-minute trailer for "MGMT."
The clip begins with a vast, open space and zooms in on lead singer Andrew VanWyngarden brushing his teeth. He's then spooked and attacked by a wild, possibly rabid opossum, leading him to be late to band rehearsal. However, when telling band mate Ben Goldwasser that he was late due to a wild animal attack, Goldwasser just shrugged it off.
What follows gets even more absurd. There are aliens and NSA spies, all trying to get a sneak preview at the new effort from the "Electric Feel" band.
The entire clip is highly cinematic and epic, and it's really the sort of thing that only MGMT could pull off, in all it's weirdness. Luckily, it works, and it also gives fans a sample of the sound of the new album. The trailer included music from new songs such as "Cool Song No. 2," "Mystery Disease," "Your Life is a Lie" and more.

Of course, this isn't the first promotional video that MGMT created for their new album. The record was preceded by singles "Alien Days" and "Your Life is a Lie." The latter got the video treatment. That bizarre clips depicts an urban dystopia, full of people who aren't quite what they seem.
"MGMT" will be released Sept. 17. It is the follow up to 2010's "Congratulations."
