Louis Tomlinson's professional football career debut with the Doncaster Rovers is set for September 18 and just 24 hours after tickets went on sale over 1,000 have been sold. More than 600 tickets were sold within the first few hours, too. The club signed the One Direction singer in hopes that hoards of young female One Direction fans to pack the Doncaster stadium in hopes to garner more attention for the club and it looks like it's working.

"This has always been a childhood dream for me," Louis said on the club's official website. "I feel very honored to have been asked to sign for Rovers and being able to help both the club and the amazing charity Bluebell Wood is what it's all about."

Tomlinson was born in Doncaster and would often attend matches. Now he is part of the team he grew up watching.

Though Louis will have to wait until later in the fall to suit up as a Rover. One Direction's "Take Me Home" world tour is the singer's priority, of course, and the club knows it.

"Louis has always been passionate about football and wanted to realize a dream of signing to his home town club where he once worked on match days," said a statement on the club's official website. "After discussions between Louis, Paul Dickov and media manager Steve Uttley, it was decided that the club could sign him and issue him with a squad number for the 2013/2014 season. As part of the signing it is hoped that Louis will be able to appear in Rovers colors at some point this season in aid of Bluebell Wood and train with the lads. Chairman John Ryan and the manager Paul Dickov have given Louis the number 28 shirt for this season to help him raise money for Bluebell Wood."
