LISTEN Kings of Leon New Song 2013 'Beautiful War' from Album 'Mechanical Bull': 'Use Somebody' Band Performs Slow Tempo Love Song on BBC Radio 1 [AUDIO]
Rock band Kings of Leon stopped by BBC Radio 1 yesterday (Sept. 10) to perform new cuts from their upcoming album "Mechanical Bull."
In a performance that also included a stellar cover of Robyn's "Dancing On My Own," Kings of Leon also debuted a new song from "Mechanical Bull." "Beautiful War" is a slow-moving, heartfelt song not quite like anything in the KoL discography to date.
Though the band has never been one to shy away from the ballad (see: "Use Somebody") or the slow-burner (see: "True Love Way"), "Beautiful War" blends together the crawling sensibilities with the heartfelt lyricism and passion of their more toned down work to create a particularly beautiful piece of music.
As heard in "Supersoaker" and "Wait For Me," lead singer Caleb Followill's voice remains as strong as ever. Though he edges back from the raspy growl and attitude of his younger days, Followill is able to soar just as well as ever.
Listen to "Beautiful War" below (via Rolling Stone). The track begins at 2:45.
"Beautiful War" is on of 11 tracks from Kings of Leon's upcoming sixth studio album "Mechanical Bull," due out Sept. 24.
Of course, this isn't the first song fans have heard from the new album. Watch the music video for the first "Mechanical Bull" single "Supersoaker" below.
Kings of Leon have also debuted a new song "Wait For Me." That track is reportedly the second single from the album.
