Drake Drops 'Nothing Was The Same' Trailer That Depicts A Ruler's Return
Never let it be said that Drake lacks confidence. To promote Nothing Was The Same, the Canadian MC's new album, he has released a video that seems to depict a hip-hop presidential convoy rolling through the streets of Toronto. The boom-bap and fanfare of the Hit-Boy beat over the top of the video leaves no doubt that the former Degrassi star views his upcoming release as a king's return. (The vibe is only slightly ruined by the shot of the album's truly terrible cover art).
Check it out below:
As if that video didn't contain enough clues of how highly Drake thinks of himself, his Billboard cover story showed it when he adressed (arguably the best rapper of the last several years) Kendrick Lamar and his name-dropping verse on Big Sean's "Control."
"I didn't really have anything to say about it. It just sounded like an ambitious thought to me," Drake said, when asked how he felt about K-Dot claiming the throne. "That's all it was. I know good and well that Kendrick's not murdering me, at all, in any platform. So when that day presents itself, I guess we can revisit the topic."
Drake has also revealed the track listing for Nothing Was The Same and it's noticeably light on collaborations.
