Suge Knight Arrested: Death Row Records Rap Mogul Pulled Over in LA for Erratic Driving with No License Plates, NOT Drunk But Jailed for Misdemeanor Warrant
Reports confirm that Death Row Records founder Suge Knight was arrested in LA on Wednesday (September 11) after getting pulled over for suspicious driving. Fortunately, Knight was not under the influence of any substance. But there WAS a misdemeanor warrant out for the rap mogul's arrest, so he was handcuffed and later released on bail.
According to TMZ, the Black Kapital Records CEO was pulled-over by police outside of Beverly Hills early Wednesday morning. Apparently, LAPD authorities noticed Knight straddling two lanes on a busy street while messing around in his truck. The vehicle did not have any license plates.
When cops finally pulled Knight over, they discovered that he was "dead cold sober." However, the Compton, California native hadn't appeared in court for a pesky crime involving driving while on a suspended license. Therefore, a warrant was previously issued for his arrest.
Police hauled Knight off to the county jail. He was later released from custody after posting a $20,000 bail.
This isn't Knight's first run-in with the law (obviously). Here's a list of some of Knight's legal woes:
Knight was sent to prison for a probation violation in 1996. He was sentenced to nine years for the violation n 1997 and later released on August 6, 2001.
In 2003, Knight was sent to prison again for violating parole when he struck a parking lot attendant.[30] Death Row Records only managed to save itself from complete bankruptcy by releasing archived Snoop Dogg compilation albums and posthumous Tupac albums.
On May 10, 2008, Knight was involved in an altercation at a Hollywood nightclub involving money. He was knocked out for 3 minutes, taken to the hospital, and reportedly did not cooperate with the LAPD.
Knight was arrested on drug and aggravated assault charges after leaving a Las Vegas strip club in August 2008. Knight was beating girlfriend Melissa Isaac and brandishing a knife when police arrived. Reports also allege that he was under the influence of both ecstasy and hydrocodone, but Knight was cleared of all charges in December 2008.
Knight was implicated in the robbery of Akon producer, Noel "Detail" Fisher in March 2009. $170,000 worth of jewelry was stolen, along with a locked safe, stereo equipment and the key to a Mercedes vehicle.
On February 8, 2012, Suge Knight was arrested in Las Vegas on prior outstanding traffic warrants after police found marijuana in his car.
An arrest warrant was issued on February 24, 2012 after Knight missed a court date on charges of driving without a license while on three years of unsupervised probation. This is why he was arrested on September 11, 2013 after initially being pulled over for erratic driving.
