'Hunger Games: Catching Fire' Soundtrack News, Updates [LISTEN]: The National Writes New Song 'Lean' for Jennifer Lawrence Movie, Originally Called 'Dying is Easy'
It looks like the soundtrack to The Hunger Games: Catching Fire will feature some of the most anticipated songs of the year. According to a new interview with NME, Indie Rock group The National has written a new song entitled "Lean" for the upcoming Jennifer Lawrence film, but the song's original title ("Dying is Easy") almost got the band booted from the project.
"The song almost didn't make it because it was too dark for The Hunger Games soundtrack, which I thought was sort of funny because It's about killing kids, I don't know how a song can be darker than that?" said the band's frontman Matt Berninger. "So we had to change the name of the song; I actually like the name 'Lean'."
"The song was originally called 'Dying Is Easy' and I think that they thought it was a little too dark," he continued. "But, you know, I get it. It was a really fun project...It was a cool change from how we normally work on things - to write something for something else. It was kind of a pressure release thing and it was fun, we really enjoyed it."
The song has yet to be released, but another soundtrack song by Coldplay has! Check out Coldplay's "Atlas," which will be featured on the soundtrack for "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire."
Another artist rumored to be contributing to the soundtrack is British pop star Ellie Goulding. This is just a rumor now, with no confirmation at all, but do you think Goulding would be a good addition to the anticipated soundtrack?
